The “both sides suck equally” tweeters who seem very certain that nothing positive or progressive came from the Obama administration must not have noticed what Trump has been furiously trying to undo over the last three and a half years.

I think what gnaws at me when I see the this sort of voter discouragement message is the degree to which it completely erases millions of activists and engaged participants who have worked within the party and achieved real forward progress.

And how much four more years of this nightmare will undo even more of the work they put in. Obviously always demand more of a party that sometimes ends up one step forward, two steps back, but not by essentially helping the party that will go nine steps back.

Maybe in odd numbered years we need a rumspringa for political nihilism.

I think when you get discouraged by the too often timidity of the leadership it's good to look at and compare the young members of the house -- the future of the respective parties. Or watch a hearing and compare the sides. Democrats aren't perfect, but they're not a clown show.
