Before Taylor Swift was big into Aran Jumpers - Ivan Cooper was rocking funky knitwear on the streets of Derry. The politics of the SDLP began in the streets, through protest and street meetings. It's where we're at our best - organising in our local communities. #SDLP50
As a 90's child, I grew up during the journey to the Agreement. Joe Hendron's West Belfast victory in 1992, the year I was born, left SF no other choice but to engage in dialogue. Hume-Adams would follow shortly after in 1993, IRA ceasefire in 1994. Thank you Dr. Joe. #SDLP50
I don’t really remember the Good Friday Agreement Referendum Campaign but can you imagine the reaction in @SDLPyouth nowadays if @MartinMcAuley or @clionamccarney told us all to lie on the ground for a photo shoot? #SDLP50
John Hume’s membership of @PES_PSE in the European Parliament put @SDLPlive and the situation in Northern Ireland on a European stage. I love this photo of John and German Chancellor Willy Brandt - two Statesmen who were prepared to challenge orthodoxy to unite people. #SDLP50
