Today I hosted my @joinClubhouse show #FounderFridays with @AmandaMGoetz and we talked about pitching your startup during a pandemic and we brought 3 founders to the stage to pitch.

At the beginning of the show, I shared some startup stats + tips for pitching. Here they are 👇

- 2.8% VC funding went to womxn founders in 2019
- Less than 1% of VC funded startup founders are Black
- Even less... 0.4% are Latinx
- More than 40% of VC funding comes from the Bay Area

So what can we do?
🗣GIVE these founders a stage.

Black, Latinx, womxn founders are overlooked because people have always overlooked them. Not because they are any less than their white male counterparts.

Inclusiveness is the new elitism.
🎢 Join their journey!

Become a mentor. If you have privilege and experience, give it to those who don't. This will help raise the startup ecosystem as a whole.

And not just mentorship - put your money where your mouth is. #hireandwire

And now some tips...
1️⃣ Cold DM pitches and Twitter deal flow IS a thing. This is how I got my first 2 investment opportunities and I know a lot of other angels are finding great opportunities from Twitter so make sure you're being persistent and building relationships with people you admire on here!
2️⃣ Send your full deck with @DocSend to track metrics and also send @loom pitch. This is gold for the investor because now they can view on their own time and feel your energy through the video pitch. Now your meeting time can be spent getting to know each other and not pitching.
3️⃣ End your pitch with confidence and an ask! Remember YOU are the one doing the hard work of building a company. The investor can an OPPORTUNITY to join the ride.

This is your chance to be bold, confident, and direct and end strong "How much can I count on your for?"
