A Thread On Content Creator Hate

If someone on the internet hates you, just take a moment to think about this page that's all about how terrible I am. Like reeeeally take it in. It just might put things into perspective. https://atrociousyoutubers.miraheze.org/wiki/Arlo
Take a tiny bit of info on a person, use it to form a profile of who you think the person is, then create a bunch of nonsense to morph your reality so that the person forever matches that profile. This is generally how hate works in situations like this. It's laughably silly.
Genuine criticism is a totally different topic. It's when things devolve past a certain point you've just got to laugh it off. It's not worth even thinking about. If anyone is heaping hate onto you based on objective falsehoods, block 'em and move on. Their words mean nothing.
I bring all this up not as a way to defend myself from the page, but to hopefully offer support to anyone experiencing something like this. Even small fanbases can attract fanatical haters. I see them all the time. Ignoring their words can be easier said than done, of course.
It's a process. It's a mindset you've got to get into. If a person accuses you of something based on nonsense that's objectively untrue, they should have no power over you. Literally zero. Just keep reminding yourself that and it will get easier.
I mean seriously, look at this stuff.

"He can rage pretty easily."

" 'So, I played this new Paper Mario game and it is nothing like the Thousand Year Door. I HATE IT!' - Arlo "

Is the page open to edit? Can people start adding more? I want more. This is gold.
Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that haters hate you based on a fragment of your personality that they've morphed into nonsense. Your fans love you based on EVERYTHING they get from you.

Haters are also more vocal. Your fans VASTLY outnumber them.
Remembering that helps me every day. Sometimes a nasty comment can feel stronger than fifty nice ones. But it's the opposite. One nice comment from a genuine fan is worth more than a THOUSAND nasty ones.

You've just got to remember that you're awesome. Because I know you are. :)
