Although my No Such Thing as a Free Gift book doesn't explore Wollstonecraft's argument, my second book, The Unknowers does, raising a challenge to the belief from Rob Reich and others that a political theory of philanthropy is a new pursuit. 1/
I think perhaps @BenSoskis would likely agree that socialist criticisms of philanthropy preceded liberal ones from Reich / Giridharadas. E.g. Wilde's Soul of Man under Socialism. What they probably have more difficulty conceding is that proto-feminism influenced socialism. 2/
