Alright! Welcome back!

I have written and erased this thread, time and again. But here it goes.

In the last two months, we have seen mental health spoken about in various lights! Most of which was more regressive than anything. And we have to change that for ourselves!
This thread may include info/statistics about depression, suicide, or mental illness in general. In case that's triggering, please refrain from reading ahead.

If you have questions, thoughts, or counters, please drop them towards the end as well. Happy to discuss and learn.
Before I completely dive in, my heart reaches out to everyone affected by the show put up by media coverages, or by influential people talking about Sushant, Deepika, mental illness, or anyone and invalidating their journey or making it all about their numbers.
In one of the statements recorded, Ankita mentioned that it is not possible for him to have been depressed because he was talented, driven, and had plans for what he wanted to achieve. Funny, because you can be sneezing and still have plans of what you want to do in a day.
Kangana started with weird narratives to yesterday, lashing at Deepika & everyone with mental illness as a business! Strange investing in a business that doesn't pay well! The invalidation was very strong. Reading comments on the posts made me question where we are really headed.
Sushant's sister mentioned about Rhea performing black magic on him. And I am nothing but stunned. We are in 2020. People have fought timelessly and tirelessly to break the taboo of talking about mental illness. At least not as black magic
This just takes us back over 200 years back to when everyone believed that. Mental health is a hoax if you believe climate change is a hoax. Because it is crippling 14.3% (197.3 million) (recorded) of the Indian population with 45.7m with depressive disorders.
To add to it, the rates of suicide have increased and are at close to 18%. Most of it because of mental illnesses.

(as of 2017-2018)
Why am I talking about this?
a. It is invalidating everyone struggling each day to even move from their beds. People come to us and hint that they aren't supposed to be here. They should be strong and move ahead.
You aren't weak. You are brave and I'm proud of you to have talked.
b. Too many influential accounts, credible as well as intellectual accounts with massive followings are spreading utter nonsense. In a country with a poor mental health care structure, and lack of psychological education, this is adding to misinformation and invalidation.
I'm just here asking people to be mindful. And stop the shit show. You're hurting innumerable people struggling quietly.
Phew. I know me writing this isn't going to make any difference. But thank you for reading.
