Mike Milbury was my boss for 1 year when I was 23-24 & a new hire at NYI. I was full of ambition & idealism, w/plenty of ideas but no experience. On the occasions where we interacted, it was not enjoyable. He did little to support me & bullied me/others on multiple occasions.
I distinctly remember him bragging about being an a$$hole at one point. He also reamed me out for saying "ok" when he'd rant about something not being done the way he wanted & threatened to fire me when I signed off on Childrens' Foundation donation of $30K to a cancer charity.
He knows he's provocative & seems to relish being in that role. He's a smart guy, but seems to take pleasure in being crude, rude and "edgy". Friedge & Marek recently spoke about him enjoying the roll of troll (which they liked about him).
From a GM/Coach perspective, I think he was dealt a bad deck for many of his NYI years & is unduly blamed for the org's problems. As a manager of people (in many aspects), I think he doesn't get called out nearly enough, and there's no doubt that impacted the org/club negatively
