I also strongly support penal reform, and absolutely agree that we need to address the root causes of property crime. So often they're bound up with inequality, homelessness, and the war on drugs.

But please don't make it seem like a victimless crime, or simply privilege
My granny was also burgled in her nineties, three guys tried to tie her up, bruised her arms, threatened her physically. All she could think was how awful it would be for the family if she died during the break-in, like her brother. Thank God she survived, but was never the same
