Brilliant thread but here's a few things I would like to add:

The movie Chennai Express itself is a perfect example of how the North Indians perceive South Indians and vice versa. In the film, all of the South Indian characters are portrayed as barbaric and violent people. This is due to Bollywood's toxic propaganda.
And in a lot of South films, North Indians are portrayed as greedy and selfish. That aside, it's usually worse in North Indians as they tend to look down South Indians more. But, the newer generation is improving greatly and bridging the divide.
Another thing I would like to add is about the term 'Hindustan'. Hindustan actually is another name of India, that's mostly used in the northern regions. That's why, calling Bollywood (Hindi) films 'Cerita Hindustan' and Kollywood (Tamil) 'Cerita Tamil' is inaccurate.

Once again, bahasa Hindustan doesn't exist. Hindustan means India. There is no one language for India. https://twitter.com/thepatriotsasia/status/1296756369094086657?s=19
