Rare positive development in #Libya as Serraj and Aguileh both publicly ascribe to recent #UN plan for a DMZ around Sirte echoing many of its points in their calls for a ceasefire (which should be read more as a commitment to not fight given there's not much war atm)
This is the result of a recent diplomatic push by #Germany and the US and whilst it's a pleasant surprise it doesn't materially change anything yet.

Rather it sets up the negotiations to come and importantly also helps further tilt the scales in eastern Libya towards Aguileh
How quickly confidence building measures or any tangible progress towards de-militarising Sirte begins will be the real measure of its significance

Remember, Aguileh Serraj & Mishri are experts at having a process for the sake of a process, cooperating only to blunt all progress
The response of eastern Libya's more extreme camp represented by #Haftar and the #UAE will be the key issue to watch as they stand to lose the most from de-escalation.

Germany & the UN will now have to make sure this doesnt go the same way as the National Conference Process...
