The Stop the War narrative is that if the West hadn't intervened in Syria there would be fewer refugees.

The opposite is true. Millions more would have fled and millions more would still live under a murderous regime that inflected countless mindless horrors upon them.
The West is at fault for many conflicts, impoverished communities, brutal dictators, widespread exploitation, global scale theft and even natural disasters.

But the idea that people should just be abandoned to ethnic cleansing campaigns and deadly regimes is one of cowardice.
"We created ISIS" and "we are uniquely able to end their regime without surrendering the survivors to a dictatorship" can both be true.

"We created ISIS" and "we abandoned millions to suffer and die under their rule" doesn't need to be.
This has been my intensely and most prominently unpopular take in Green circles thread.
