Last year, the EU shoved a new treaty in front of the Swiss requiring Switzerland to observe “dynamic alignment” with EU law.

The Swiss refused.

What did the EU do? It imposed trade sanctions.

What impact did the trade sanctions have? Nothing.

What did the Swiss do?
Nothing.

Bullying the Swiss into compliance just a year before Brexit-proper, was supposed to be a show of strength by the EU.

The strategy horribly backfired, as the Swiss refused to play ball.
Interestingly, the EU has now dropped its demand for 'dynamic alignment' with EU law on Britain, representing the biggest concession yet made by either side in the negotiations.

Not a lot people know that.
