It's not about whether or not he can do this. It's about creating an atmosphere of fear.

Law enforcement at polling places is a direct threat of physical violence against people of color.

Call this what it is: political terrorism. https://twitter.com/ndrew_lawrence/status/1296627473342517248
In the same way, Trump's attack on the US post office—a vital public service—is not about whether mail will be delivered, it's about preventing people who vote by mail from believing their vote can count.

It's sabotage of public trust in the system.

It's political terrorism.
Republicans are 100% aligned with this. Voter ID, intimidation at polling places, attacks on public services ... these are their methods.

It's why they all insist this isn't a democracy.

They're authoritarians, fundamentally aligned against democracy as a form of government.
The Muslim ban was about making Muslims afraid, to keep them out of public life.

And so the bathroom ban for trans people.

The threat is the whole point. When you have a group of people in power who exist only to destroy and exclude, their advantage is fear.

They're terrorists
Like any terrorism, the threat is cheap and easy and frightening.

If only a small fraction of people who would have exercised their right—their RIGHT—to vote will now stay home, the terrorism was a success.

Exclusion and destruction is the Republican strategy. It's terrorism.
If only a small fraction of Muslims flee because they fear a country that would seek to ban Muslims, if only a fraction of bigots are emboldened enough when power shares their hateful views, then the Muslim ban was a success.

Exclusion and destruction. The GOP terrorist brand.
There is nothing about Republican strategy over at *least* the last 40 yrs that doesn't rest on the exclusion of other people for the uplift of a few.

Now they have Trump; a full-on political terrorist. There's nothing he won't try. For the GOP, he was an inevitability.
It shouldn't be a surprise that what passes for "thinkers" on the right spent the last 30 years writing books that called liberals terrorists or feminists Nazis or Democrats of being bent on destroying our system of government.

With fascists, every accusation is a confession.
This may seem harsh, but here we are. The USPS under direct attack by a crony appointee with corrupt conflicts of interest. Threats of violence at polling places. Invasion of U.S. cities by federal law enforcement and mercenaries.

They are what they are. They are what they do.
