I've woken up this morning really grumpy about agency people shitting on in-house people.
We aren't all incompetent. And I get that it sucks to put work in on a pitch and have it fall over. I've had projects that I've gotten all the way to go-live yanked. It's not fun.

But I have had people scoff, eye roll, condescend, and otherwise get upset when I speak negatively about agencies. The way I've been pitched. The outrageous charges. The revolving door of accounts teams.
Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander y'all.

Not everything can be blamed on the clients. Clients expect magic from agencies *because we get pitched magic*. Clients want results because *that's how businesses work*. Maybe we should work together to agree pragmatic, achievable programmes.
I have great agency relationships with teams who are an extension of my in-house crew. It's possible. We do it by being open, honest, and respecting each other's knowledge and skills. We get results, because we're all bought in. We talk money freely, because budget matters.
I get that not all agencies want to work in real partnership. It's hard. Harder than doing work, handing it over, and winning awards. Sorry about that.
But when we do work in partnership? That's the best. It really is. And I won't work any other way.
