Let's start with the pro.
I'll mostly be talking out of my own experience, though granted I am nowhere high in comparison to the grand scheme of things. So I'll also be taking a bunch of research and things I learned from others into account, too.

Pros:
- A tight support network
- That fuzzy feeling of your work being seen / your actions receiving attention (This is usually naturally a good/addicting feeling)
- Inherently easier time to start/try something new and check results

- Money (if you do it right)
- New opportunities and offers that COME to YOU
- You will genuinely become more confident through reassurance
- Special Treatment
- Favours everywhere

This is to say, anyone claiming having a platform doesn't matter or is unimportant may have a point on an emotional basis, however these pros are often something we naturally crave, and brings benefits in many ways to our lives.
BUT It also comes at a cost. Here are the cons

- You WILL be treated differently, often with more suspicion or a closer look

- There's people that will obsess over you and cause lots of discomfort
- Way harsher judgement for the "little things"

- Unless you force yourself boundaries from the get-go, you will lose privacy and time.
- Depending on what you do, there can be tremendous pressure/expectations for each step
- Easy to get lost in it (becoming obsessed with money/followers/etc)

- There WILL be people who will hate on you simply for your position. This can sometimes be dangerous.
- Compartmentalization of your life
- Again, just expectations. You will not be allowed to be a normal person anymore.
- Rumors and trust issues

Popularity is something most of us dream of.
Who doesn't like praise and recognition?
It's both a gift and awful. You get a lot, but some things need to be set aside. Popularity can make or break you.
The reason I'm listing this is because I wish everyone well and luck but

... I also want to educate and protect those who are just mentally/emotionally not prepared or equipped for it.
We see it every now and then again how someone even with "just" a few thousand can be CRUSHED by it because they weren't prepared or able to handle. This especially

... can become a problem in this fandom, where a huge chunk already deals with mental health or is too naïve to be able to handle all the cons. Be aware of them.
Take your time, don't get overexcited and set boundaries/rules to stick to that you can handle.
