okay, this is my thread that y'all can link under non-natives replies because although we are being so loud about this issue on the tl and on our profiles, non-natives still want to go "wait, what?" written by a plains cree native <3
tipis/teepees (however you want to write it) are a SACRED item to plains natives. they are used in ceremonies, the tipis themselves have teachings and meanings that i shouldn't need to educate y'all on because google is free baby.
do not be out here calling what you see in the background a tent and downplaying it. this is obviously a structure made to resemble a tipi, the poles sticking out at the top are a dead give away to me and many other natives not only on army stan twitter but twitter in general.
no, we are not trying to cancel bts. no, we do not want to see the downfall of bts. no, we are not trying to distract anyone from comeback season or dynamite. we are angry with the set designers who chose to use a tipi as an aesthetic. it has literally no reason being there.
also please remember not to silence OR speak over indigenous voices. instead, amplify us because we deserve to be heard on the issues of cultural appropriation of our own cultures.
coming back to include this in my thread because tipis are sacred to many more tribes!!
