as a fan, it means a lot to us knowing that you and your team open up for our opinions. I'm so grateful and appreciate it. I'll still continue to listen to it 'till the final episode. 😊
however, there are a few things that I want to express my opinions: -1 https://twitter.com/verSaenz/status/1296573340182818816
the subtitles. as a non-Spanish speaking Asian who lives in the country that Spanish might not be in the top 10 most speaking languages. I feel so left out by the podcast. it makes me feel like I'm disqualified to enjoy my beloved character's story. it's easier to understand -2
the context of the scenes in the audiovisual form. but in the audio form, it's almost impossible to know what was going on. it's so frustrating to know that I missed a lot of good things just because I don't speak the language. I don't mind if the only option I have is just -3
the Spanish transcripts, at least I can point the google translate camera and do the live translate from it so I can understand something. but for some listeners, this would be too much work for them. I can't even recommend the podcast to anyone I thought they might interest -4
in the story just because of the lack of options to enjoy the show.
- the lack of essence of the original version. I feel like the characters that I fell in love after like 2 minutes into the original show were not there at all. what I saw was more like the lovers -5
that fought each other rather than the ones that will fight for each other. I feel like the show only has the cons side of the characters rather than balancing both pros and cons. not surprised to see so many people have said something like "it's not them." or -6
"it's so out of characters" actually it's quite understandable. they were barely recognizable and it's broke my heart.
- I would call this the "men are trash" trope. I have quite a decent amount of male hetero friends and relatives who might not understand the whole idea of -7
being lgbtq+ but still willing to learn and give a whole lot of great supports. I feel uncomfortable to see the plot that might not only misrepresent the wlw characters (and us who love women) to look like we hate men which we don't, it also might misrepresent the hetero -8
people to look like they are abusive or homophobic which a lot of them are not as well.
I hope you understand our frustrations, all I want (and I'm sure a lot of people want) is just the characters that we love so much be treated in a respectfully way. and I hope my messages -9
are clear enough to understand. my word choices might not great when it comes to writing in English and it might sound aggressive or not in a friendly tone in some way. but I assure you that I have no intention to disturb or attack anyone. 😊
