My son was born on 11/3/16, just 5 days before Trump was elected. This year, his 4th birthday is election day.

C'mon, America. Give a kid (to whom I have restrained myself from explaining exactly how awful our President is) a birthday present for the ages: #democracy
If I say "dream big" he says "fight hard". We talk about why it's not fair that his skin color makes his life easier than someone with darker skin. He knows that we stand up to bullies and if something looks wrong, we ask, we listen and we try to help fix it. He knows we vote.
He knows I'm sad and worried and stressed and distracted and angry and tired. And that I'm working to elect @JoeBiden.

I can't imagine waking up in the week after this election feeling like I did on election night in 2016.
Like I hadn't done enough. Like I had underestimated all of our collective indifference. Like I had a child to whom I would have to explain why the world we brought him into looks like this. Feels like this. This time, no amount of effort is enough.
It doesn't matter that I supported another candidate with my whole heart, and will likely never feel as strongly about anyone else. It doesn't matter if it strains my marriage, or that my kid doesn't understand why I miss bedtime to be in meetings and phone banks and text banks.
The stakes are everything. All of it. We must get everyone to the polls we can. We do not need to forget that this was not the future we hoped for, but it is the possible future that we can envision for now. We MUST turn that into action.
If you have had a minute, a day, a week, a month, a year, when you wanted Trump out of the White House, this is it. This is the time. There are only 75 days left. What will you do with yours? Can you swallow your misgivings about the candidates we have so we can get rid of Trump?
THEN, we can hold them accountable. THEN, we can spend the NEXT 4 years telling @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris why they need even more progressives in the administration. THEN, we can do the work to make this the country (that too many of us believed we had) more just.
