/ To all the 4th year med students trying desperately to sort through the many & varied training programs out there, logging onto virtual forums, seeking opinions from mentors—please know that most residents telling you how amazing their programs are, are speaking their truths.
/ However, there will be some people who have differing opinions about which program is best, who trains the best residents, which offer the “best” training or most lucrative research opportunities. I genuinely believe, these folks are (usually) not trying to mislead you either.
/ Truth is, some places will be a great fit for some folks, while others are more likely to succeed elsewhere. You may not be able to predict this best fit for yourself, but you get the chance to make the best of whatever the match gives you.
/ Keep an open mind, ask your questions, listen for genuine responses, never ignore your gut. Do not expend unnecessary energy attempting to dissect every facet. Trust the people who love you and trust YOURSELF. You got this. Good luck this interview season

/ Also, this thread wasn’t prompted by anything more than my desire to take away even a shred of stress from this year’s interviewing students based on my own prior anxieties re: interviews. I have nothing to do with any residency interviews anywhere this season!
