Inspired by @ayyriestrology’s “rising signs thru the houses” thread series + contemplating derivative houses + meditating on 12H ponderings recently fed by @keldreamer’s 12H talk, a thread on the 12H… through the houses!
Relevant: I am NOT an expert on derivative houses, but the basic idea is that the Xth house from a given house can be interpreted similarly to the house structure of the base, aka radix, chart.
For example, the 8H can speak to your spouse’s finances as it is the 2H (related to finances) from the radix 7H (related to significant others). The 5H of children is the 2nd from the 4H, & children can be seen as the “wealth” of a family.
Anyway, the 12H: associated w/ retreat, isolation, liminal places, marginalization, “the subconscious,” etc. To turn the 12H into the 1H is to acknowledge & surrender to the obscured, nonrational vantage point of the 12H.
{I’m taking a spiritual-y view on the 12H for this fwiw}
{I’m taking a spiritual-y view on the 12H for this fwiw}
2nd from 12H = radix 1H. The body (1H) can be seen as the primary “moveable possession” (2H) of the soul that enlivens it. "Health is wealth!” In order to engage with a deep spiritual practice, as is supportive for the 12H, one must also tend to the needs of the body as vessel.
3rd from 12H = radix 2H: the neighborhood that the 12H must learn to navigate is the material realm. Engaging with consensus reality means also accepting the requirement to acquire resources in order to maintain the body/vessel.
4th from 12H = radix 3H: if we understand the 3H as the joy of the Moon & place of the Goddess, we can also understand it as our regular spiritual practices & the local temple that might just be our private altar. The 12H finds stability, roots, & home through such practices.
5th from 12H = radix 4H: one of the greatest pleasures of engaging in 12H activities (meditation, active imagination, etc) is finding a sense of actually /belonging/ within existence, of a sense of /home/ within the weirdness of incarnation.
6th from 12H = radix 5H: as Andrew Harvey has said, when engaging with shadow work and/or living through times that challenge one’s commitment to incarnation, a rigorous discipline of joy is 10000% required.
7th from 12H = radix 6H: developing a connection with one’s 12H often springs from encountering problems, often relational, that cannot be otherwise addressed.
8th the 12H = radix 7H: can part of the 12H’s isolation-y-ness be attributed to an avoidance of feeling overly indebted to others? Maybe, I genuinely dk.
9th from 12H = radix 8H: much is learned by engaging with the concepts of death and inheritance in the broadest senses of both words.
10th from the 12H is the radix 9H: to be known for one’s accumulated learning and accumulated wisdom can be, for many 12H Sun and/or Moon and/or AC ruler people, might be one of the only acceptable ways to be known/seen by the wider world.
11th from the 12H is the radix 10H: I don’t have data for this, but based on myself + observation, living from the 12H often means that both one’s work and one’s socializing must be aligned with one’s spiritual practice, to a greater or lesser degree.
12th from the 12H is radix 11H: the liminal, isolative nature of the 12H can find larger groups & communities confusing & unpleasant. You can call it introversion if you want, but there’s more nuance available than “not liking groups.”
The 12H is one of my favorite houses, but it's also a sticky challenging beastie for a lot of reasons. If you got this far, do you have one of the traditional 7 planets in the 12th? If your Sun, Moon, and/or AC Ruler is in the 12th, was this thread helpful?
{also, before anyone asks, i have ZERO intention to do this with any of the other houses!!!}
