rich "left wing" grifters who whine about cancel culture love to act like if we make it easy for people to lose their positions of power and privilege and wealth for moral transgressions, that would lead down a slippery slope to taking away peoples freedom/livelihood over nothing
meanwhile in actual reality, it has been extraordinarily easy in our society for people to lose the basic necessities of life--their freedom, their health, their jobs, their homes--for no reason at all, at the hands of the arbitrary whims of capital or the police state
and it has been extraordinarily difficult to dislodge the rich and powerful from their seats of power over the rest of us.

proving that, in fact, these two phenomena are distinct and uncoupled
our existing reality has proved for centuries that the standard you set for taking away regular people's basic necessities for a dignified life is entirely unrelated from the standard you set for taking away positions of power or the public trust from elites
we have always had these things be uncoupled, but in the most morally perverse, backwards way possible. But the people telling you that to correct one half of this system we need to concede the other half are liars
we could in fact simply reverse this standard.

it should be very very hard to lose the basic requirements of a dignified life.

it should be incredibly easy to lose your position of power over other people
people who hold the public trust, under the expectation that they serve it morally and faithfully, to the benefit of society at large, should lose that trust easily. That's actually a good thing. People aren't entitled to power or status.
We are entitled to things people need to thrive. We are not entitled to sit in perches of authority. That is a privilege that, in a just world, would be easily revocable.
