There is a big difference between communes in anarchist discourse & communes as intentional communities. Communes in anarchist discourse is from the french word for smallest territorial division & explicitly about free association & independent living. Kropotkin wrote negatively
About intentional communities as he felt they often necessitated erasing independent spaces, living spaces especially, that he saw as key.

Intentional communities or "communes" have major issues with them. Not the least, often a lack of radicalism rooted in desires of "escaping"
Capitalism & the state rather than fighting authority.
Due to it not being a territorial division, that means it is not a series of free associations networked within & outside it but a tight nit group of people sharing stuff.

There are useful & good qualities to
Sharing spaces, possessions & so on. But it always needs to be tempered with independent spaces & ways of living. Intentional communities are rarely useful weapons against oppression.
