A lot of ppl with their hot takes on the film #Mignonnes on Twitter today. First of all, 2 things :

- Netflix fucked up and went for trashy clickbait for the US marketing campaign.
- Ppl should at least read up on what a film’s message is actually about before going on a rant
It’s an award winning movie by award winning and acclaimed director Maimouna Doucouré. She grew up in a polygamous Muslim household, like the main character.
The goal is to show a societal reality : girls growing up in a conservative , repressive religious environment, who will rebel in the most extreme ways. The message is to actually denounce the sexualization of girls not promote it or show it as something positive.
Netflix apologized for their marketing fiasco and the misrepresentation of the film. But look at the replies, it seems it’s already too late. They fucked up big time and I’m afraid they killed the movie in the US market. What the hell were they thinking?! https://twitter.com/netflix/status/1296486375211053057?s=21 https://twitter.com/netflix/status/1296486375211053057
