In the plan, RRHA outlines converting all of its existing public housing into a voucher-based system. Nearly 3,700 units are on the line — and RRHA’s largest properties: Creighton Court (demo process underway), Mosby Court (next up for demo consideration) and Gilpin Court.
It also plans to move residents from Fay Towers to 3 other spots which they say are in accordance w/ efforts to “deconcentrate poverty.” But @NicheSocial shows only 2 spots have higher income levels. And even then, they’re only slightly above poverty level ($25K in RVA)
“This isn’t moving people to the suburbs by any stretch of the imagination — it’s like a small hop to slightly different parts of the city that more likely will have better growth and future development happening,” @ThadWilliamson said.
