A “what about disabled people” post. My mate Ken, the one in the wheelchair, was round today. He mentioned he doesn’t go to Morningside to shop because the pavements are too narrow for him to reassemble his chair out of the car without blocking it for pedestrians. 1/3
He can’t assemble it behind or in front of the car, because there’s loads of parking, and if he ‘can’ get a space in amongst the able-bodied drivers’ cars, there’s not room fore or aft to assemble it 2/3
Leaving his only option to assemble in the road. Which is... well that’s not going to happen. So he doesn’t go to Morningside. But if there were fewer ‘able-bodied’ spaces, and more room for disabled parking, and more room to the side of the car, he’d go. 3/3
