THREAD. Today we attempted to get to Gortan / Gorton Station. The UK's most remote Abandoned Station. #EveryDisusedStation Here is the day in pictures. 1/
The goal was to park at a little farm/old Castle (Red Arrow). A out 1km off the A82, as there was a P - for parking there (see second picture, screengrab). Perfect. /2
Frustratingly as we left the A82 almost immediately we found this sign. This flew in the face of the P on the map. A little disappointing as this essentially added 2km to our trek. 3/
After around 1.5 km we came across the old ruins. Plenty of parking naturally but clearly not something the locals wanted you to do. 4/
2.5km in, this delightful bridge still in use by farm vehicles bit likely needing some TLC, caught our attention. 5/
3km in just beyond the bridge an old sleeper. Around 300m down the valley away from the railway. 6/
4km in, rain starting to show we decided to stop for lunch. Perfect spot next to the Water of Tulla. 7/
6km in, more rain and the wind is now starting to grate. Filming walk pasts, cut away and drone shots is becoming tedious. 8/
More rain and insane wind. What happened to the Met Office forecast for today which showed a sun all day and 10% chance of rain. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh. 9/
7km in and still 2km to get to Horton Bothy and another 2km to get to Gorton Station we decided that we should turn around. This wasn't a day to make a decent film! 10/
Alas, today wasn't to be, but we gave it a go and shall be back, better prepared I am sure. Just the most stunning scenery. 11/. *End of Thread. 😁
