Respectfully, I'm not “adding” God to some existing secular system or account of human behavior or of morality. I hope to be building a way of doing justice around what God commands and requires. 1/6 https://twitter.com/worldviewconvos/status/1296481107005906946
My last article that is coming out goes into further depth on this. Many of the things I’m saying assume a number of "background” theological beliefs—that obviously many don’t share with me. 2/6
But in the footnotes I will speak to these ‘background issues’ at least to make them more visible. They include: (1) How do you interpret the Old Testament for Christians now? Think gleaning laws. How does the Bible fit together? 3/6
(2) What is the doctrine of common grace? And so how do you read non-Christian thinkers. (3) What is the relationship of corporate to individual responsibility, in God’s eyes? (4) To what degree can you “bind Christian consciences” over political issues? 4/6
These issues have been worked out by Christian theologians over the years. In the footnotes of the last article, I’ll show there are long and strong lines of Christian thinkers and theologians who support these beliefs. I can’t make a full case for all of these beliefs now...5/6
but I'm noting them to make it easier to see the issues of disagreement. 6/6
