Have started recording mini-lectures for the big intro course this Fall. I actually really like PowerPoint's functionality for this. You can do video or just audio (I'm doing the latter, voice over for slides). Trying to stick to 12-minute segments (although the longest is 20).
Over the years have worked to make slides less info-laden and more visual. Very grateful for that extra work now. Breaking up each week into little separate mini-lectures and letting students go at their own pace should be interesting. Maybe they'll absorb more!
We've also broken up readings a bit to diversity content with shorter articles, video clips, and a podcast or two. They still get a main 'lecture reading' but no more 'tutorial readings' - more diversified content to facilitate online discussion groups.
