Despite being one of the most effective gerrymanders in the country, Wisconsin’s State Assembly is close to becoming a dummymander due to suburban trends. I mapped six suburban MKE districts that either went to liberal justice @judgekarofsky or were within 1.5% back in April.
AD 23 and AD 24 attempt to crack the very liberal Milwaukee County north shore suburbs, but with Ozaukee Co. taking a sharp turn left in the Trump-era, these two districts will be some of the most competitive in the state this fall.
AD 13 and AD 15 attempt to crack parts of the more liberal Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, and West Allis with conservative Brookfield, Elm Grove, and New Berlin in Waukesha Co. It is easy to see how these districts could have the same fate as AD 14 to the north that flipped in 2018.
Finally, AD 21 and AD 82 in southern Milwaukee Co. contain all or parts of South Milwaukee, Oak Creek, Franklin, Greendale, and Greenfield. These districts could also succumb to the Republican plight in the suburbs this November.
Democrats have awesome candidates in these six districts to beat each Republican incumbent this fall. Follow, support, and donate to @sara4WI (AD13), @Jess4Assembly (AD15), @MayorBrooks (AD21), @debforwi (AD23), @EmilySiegristWI (AD24), and @ElectJacobWI (AD82)!!!
Thank you to @JMilesColeman & @SenhorRaposa for the continued inspiration of political mapmaking. I am still learning lots and trying to improve my maps!
