We worked with @CrowdDynamicsEP to simulate crowds and @Emerg_Alliance to crunch data to calculate the risks.
Rail is much safer than road.
Some of you may be familiar with this chart, which shows the fatality risk per kilometre travelled for different modes of transport relative to rail.

Even when you factor in the Covid-19 risk, rail is still safer than road, but we’re talking about low risks for both here, risks that people should be able to accept to get around.
More work is underway to look at different types of train, different scenarios, and of course figures could be updated as new information becomes available.
