If you are my friend, I am talking directly to you. Even if you think it's not an important video, even if it's a few seconds long, ESPECIALLY if it's a few seconds long, and it has words in English, I NEED you to either start getting into the habit of posting captioned videos.
I have provided you all the resources, I have shown you all of the posts from people on here who NEED these captions, who also want quick laughs from your videos, who can't because they can't hear them, and that can be for a multitude of reasons.
I will caption them FOR YOU. I have done so already for people on Discord. Your "funny meme" can wait. It literally can. There is no reason for you to be posting things that you can literally caption in 5 minutes or less. I have had multiple moments on here where I go, "damn
I really want to post this picture, or thread, or video, but it doesn't have alt text, or captions, or a transcript" and you know what I do? I caption them, because I realize that whatever I am posting is Not that important unless it's accessible. And I'm not perfect at it,
but I try, and that's what I need you all to do, I need you to TRY. Soon, I will move on from trying, and will move into more, pressing territory, so please respect not only me, but everyone on here who calls for accessible content. Whatever it is, can WAIT.
What happened to "none of us are free unless all of us are"? That freedom, for many disabled folk, includes things like alt text, or captions. It's not a privilege, it's a right. Respect it. Thank you for your time.
