Good money laundering schemes make me giddy whenever I read about them. The one Bannon & his "We Build the Wall" buddies used is pretty simple, almost boring. They created a pass-thru entity that paid "vendors;" $1 million ultimately went to cover Bannon's personal expenses. BUT
There's an exciting part, and it's the discussions Bannon & co. had about how the rubes donating to their scheme could be had. By calling it a 100% volunteer effort, they thought they could snag repeat donors & create "the most talked about media narrative ever." Like...EVER lol
The serious side of this, though is laid out in the complaint. It's really sad. Bannon & his buddies to money from people who told them that they didn't have a lot of money to give, but that the cause was important to them. Read below:
I wish the complaint had more specific info on what Bannon used the MILLION DOLLARS for. It just says "travel, hotels, consumer goods and personal credit card debts."
