Last night, without actually citing anything from the WE documents, CBC’s David Cochrane reported that those documents support Trudeau’s version of events. They do not. And it’s not just the opposition who disagree. Take a look 👇 1/
What the documents actually show is:
Minister Chagger was very much at the front end of this
•PMO knew about this earlier than they claim
•Treasury raised a major red flag on WE’s ability to deliver. 2/
Furthermore, when Mr. Cochrane was asked what Prorogation means for the WE committee work, he uncritically repeated PMO talking points that they can pick up right where they left off when parliament resumes. And that’s just not the case. 3/ https://www.ourcommons.ca/about/procedureandpractice3rdedition/ch_20_5-e.html
Those committees have been terminated. They will need to be reconstituted with new membership and new orders of reference. It isn’t a suspension. It’s termination. They don’t just come back in September and pick up where they left off. 4/
Mr. Cochrane was so busy being a Trudeau sycophant that he ducked the opportunity to present Canadians with the most basic of information about how parliament works and what Prorogation truly means. 5/
And lastly, Mr. Cochrane scoffed at the opposition handpicking several redacted pages to focus on out of thousands that were released. Yes, Mr. Cochrane, they could have released 100 thousand pages but if even 1 is redacted, it’s not only fair but prudent to focus on the one. 6/6
