Doing so much facilitating virtually these days and am loving @MURAL 's Prerecorded Imagine Talks and learned a thing or two from @skayan on how to facilitate for more inclusive meeting space
1) There's a lot of value in getting people to actually reflect in the session itself. You always run the risk of people multitasking, but giving them the space in the meeting to reflect and identify their ideas and opinions is valuable
2) Make it a habit to reference people to show that you're building on their ideas and what they're contributing is interesting and they should say more. This becomes trickier in meetings like yesterday when it's 30+ people but still valuable to make a point of doing
3) One of my favorite ideas that I need to be bold enough to try was to actually have all the participants intentionally speak over one another at the beginning of the meeting for a timed period of 10 seconds to acknowledge that social anxiety and worry about interruption
We're going to be working digitally and in my space this means facilitating workshops and collaborating with clients and teams through Webex meetings, and strategies to make this a more successful and inclusive environment for all are strategies we should try to employ
