Just checking through today's data on the @ucas_corporate data explorer to see what's going on. Broadly, the data makes things look surprisingly 'normal'. A short thread on things to note:
1st pic, numbers, 2nd pic %. Clearing and Insurance sharply down on 2019 (normal) year, and this shows up as +3% placed at firm (first) choice, which is good. 'Holding offer' (ie no decision from either uni or student) is going down nicely day-to-day, but still +32%
BIG reduction in deferral rate since yesterday suggesting students now being accepted following CAG grades (1st pic Wednesday; 2nd pic Thursday)
The boys! Not much said about them so far but the gap is widening - 40% 18yo entry rate for women vs 29% for men.
Sharp increases in 18yo entry rate for Polar Quintiles 1 and 2 - the two most disadvantaged quintiles for education outcomes.
Please note that these data mean that admissions professionals and UCAS are working their socks off - they deserve thanks and huge respect for just quietly getting on with trying to do the best for students.
