In early 2020, during the Idlib offensive by the Assad regime, Russia & pro-Iranian militias, the dominant rebel group in Idlib, Hayat Tahrir a-Sham, allowed Turkish-backed factions they had previously expelled from Idlib to return to participate in the defense of the territory.
These factions included Division 20, Faylaq al-Majd, Semarkand Brigade. The fighters who participated in Turkish-backed offensives on the YPG (while enjoying air cover & no airstrikes), largely remained far from the frontlines & less than a handful were killed in combat.
What the fighters did do was to loot the homes of civilians who fled away from advancing regimes forces (who executed civilians who remained behind).
Multiple homes were thoroughly looted in western Aleppo by Faylaq al-Majd. These photos are from a friend's home in Kafr Ouma.
Faylaq al-Majd participated in the extensive looting of Efrin and Tel Abyad after those areas were captured from the YPG by the Turkish-backed factions in 2018 & 2019 respectively. Bizarrely, in Tel Abyad, Turkey actually placed some of them on checkpoints to prevent thefts.
Now that frontlines have stabilized, civilians are returning from IDP camps along the border with Turkey only to find their homes looted by the fighters who supposedly entered their areas to protect them from the regime (whose forces are notorious for their systematic looting).
