First: I think Trump is an unsophisticated buffoon who's surrounded himself with yes men way too long. He's also a man of his generation. He's not up on the latest approved racial language (don't come at at me w/ that debunked "fine people" bs) 2/

But, these things do not ipso facto make him a racist (except by the current YOU'RE ALL RACISTS standard). Btwn tax cuts and - hallelujah - regulation cuts, he let the economy flourish, esp for minorities and disabled folks. He signed a prison reform bill 3/

Something Our Lord and Savior Preezy couldn't be bothered with in between selfies. He's been the most pro gay (er, you know what I mean) President ever. So that's a small rundown of his actions that have helped minority groups. 4/

Again, does he step on his dick a lot when he speaks? Sure. But the other part is people - "our" side included - have lost either the ability or willingness to see nuance or context. I've seen cons seriously argue Obama's "57 states" misspeak was proof of his idiocy 5/

There are... too many examples to list for Trump, esp with the media amplifying every brain fart. But no one stops to think about things like who was the audience, what was the subject of the speech, is it probable he said it or is it a Media Matters edit, etc. 6/

Nuance and context matter bigly, and failing to understand and recognize that leads to, um, today. So be part of the solution, the counter-programming to the left /media narrative. 7/

Also, to any of said left / media who might actually see this, I'd take you all more seriously about "OMG TRUMP IS HITLER" if I hadn't already lived thru it with Bush(!) and Romney(!!!), and didn't know it'll happen with the next Rep, and the one after that... 7/7
