Interesting how the elements that define the new luxury consumer have become evident over the last few days.
the new luxury consumer is defined by consciousness and education, these things manifest in attitudes towards society and the environment and consumption preferences
the people who thought that Selfridges introducing rental is bad, lack a certain level of consciousness and are not the new luxury consumer.
the people who think that Telfar being accessible is bad, are also not the new luxury consumer. Luxury is no longer about price point and exclusivity.
I wrote a report a few weeks ago, and all the Dr's i spoke to emphasized on the importance of education and levels of consciousness in luxury, sustainable and ethical consumption.
Fashion has a big role to play in the cause of environmental crisis', rental, resale and repair is literally saving the planet.

wake up!
also Selfridges started moving away from the traditional definition of luxury years ago, if you want that go to Harrods.
