Stoked to be the FIRST in the UK working with @TE_FOOD to market our farm produce!! Almost finished being on-boarded. Ultimately we will be capturing the elusive value from our production story by using software to attach it to our cattle as they leave the farm for processing.
I think the @TE_FOOD system has massive potential to capture and rerurn additional value from farm produce in the UK back to primary producers. Especially upland livestock farms and farms who have good environmental credentials. No additional paperwork just a slick app..
Producer, processor and retailer need to adopt it. Easy for us, small scale direct sales as we are two of three steps and we work with the processor. Scale it up and primary producers (farmers) need to be first on the case with this system, the additional value captured is OURS!!
I will keep farmers posted on how it works, we have chosen the Lite version because we direct sell but the potential is massive for the full @TE_FOOD version in the UK to add value to comodity produce (a lot of which should not be sold as micro margin comodity meat).
The @TE_FOOD software makes it really easy not only to track your produce out of the farm gate through industrial processing right to the shelf but it allows an individual QR code (assigned to each batch load of lambs/cattle/veg) to be fixed to each individual shelf pack.
We have all seen and got mad at the phantom name farms @Tesco baffles their customers with, and we've all had a little buzz when we recognise an actual producers name printed on a pack of veg in a supermarket. The @TE_FOOD QR code has the potential to blow that out of the water!
Farmers and processors can add as much information as they want about the farm/production/batch/animals/environment/ethos etc to the landing page for these @TE_FOOD QR codes and customers can scan and read this info in the shopping isle. Mindblowing potential, lets get on it.
We're not just talking text, media can be attached, links to farm website etc. If you sell some direct/some mainstream, @TE_FOOD QR code turns your comodity sales into farm shop window. EUROP carcass grid etc needs to catch up and include eating quality or we'll overtake it!
Currently all carcass evaluation is for processors and retailers to micro margin value cut yields with paltry returns for all the investment in breeding and genetics made on farms. How about direct feedback to producers on eating quality. It excites me (incase you havent noticed)
