There is next to no gate keeping in mobile games.
Buying a PC/console can be super daunting. Going to a store, where you might not know the things you need, what is good, what is not.
And not to mention, you can find resistance by the salespeople.

I've been treated like an idiot when buying tech, so have other women. That can be a huge issue why you don't even want to try AAA.
I am sure that like mobile games, there is also a AAA game for everyone. But there are more obstacles for people to find those games.

PvP and MMOs can be hugely toxic places for women and minorities, we all know this.
Almost all of my friends keep their gender to themselves while playing, because it is just easier and makes more pleasant playing experience.
