Thread: I'm becoming suspicious of a theme developing in various news outlets this month telling us of amazing discoveries that we suddenly might not need so many medicines/radio-isotopes just as a no-deal Brexit which will create medical shortages looms in to sight 1/6
/6 So here was the first one: Painkillers might not do any good for chronic pain ... 3rd August - The Daily Mail https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8588095/Painkillers-not-prescribed-chronic-pain-harm-good.html?ito=social-twitter_dailymailUK
/6 Honey might be more effective than antibiotics for respiratory infections. 19th August - Sky News https://news.sky.com/story/honey-better-for-coughs-and-sore-throats-than-conventional-medicine-says-study-12052085?dcmp=snt-sf-twitter
/6 Early stage breast cancer could only require a single dose of radiotherapy rather than a full course (thereby reducing the amount of radioisotopes needed, something predicted to be a problem getting hold of after no-deal)

/6 ... so why is this happening now? I'm not saying any of these stories are suspicious in their own right ... sometimes not relying on medicines can be great, but I'm not sure these stories often get in to top news feeds.
/6 ... well I think it's because of voices like these experts talking to a select committee saying there will be shortages in the case of a no deal ... they know it's coming and this smacks of softening up the public with news stories. https://twitter.com/jude5456/status/1290551690815569923?s=20
