In this clip, Erdogan makes reference to post WWI events that shape his thinking and the thinking of Ottoman revivalists. First he mentions the Treaty of Severes.

Signed in 1920, the treaty partitioned what remained of the Ottoman empire into European occupied zones. /1 https://twitter.com/abdbozkurt/status/1296189074756206592
The remaining Ottoman state was reduced to just NW Anatolia, less than half of the Turkish Republic's modern territory. The subsequent revolution and war of independence recaptured Istanbul and the east to the borders of the French (Syria) and British (Iraq) mandates. /2
Severes was replaced by a new treaty and the last Ottoman sultan was deposed in favor of the Turkish Republic.

Therefore, Erdogan compares any attempt to limit Turkish expansion in the E. Med or elsewhere to Sevres, as though rightful Turkish territory is being withheld. /3
He also refers to "protecting our Misak-ı Millî borders," a reference to one of the last resolutions of the defeated Ottoman Parliament in 1920 before it was replaced by the Turkish Republic. Those resolutions included future borders for a Turkish state that looked like this. /4
Notice those borders include territory in north Syria and Iraq where the Turkish military is actively building bases, conducting operations and "Turkifying" the population today. They also include all of Cyprus and Greek/Bulgarian territory around the Aegean Sea. /5
So essentially, all of Erdogan's exploits in MENA/Med are for the expressed purpose of realizing the last will and testament of the Ottoman Empire on its deathbed. /End
