It is somewhat amusing to see the reactions to @OttoMeri's refusal to commit with antifascism. Meri is simply following a time-honoured tradition of his class and his party (1/?)
The ruling class is not ideologically homogenous but, historically speaking, the liberal or conservative bourgeoisie has more often than not been an ally of fascism than its opponent; time and time again it has been fascism's door opener to power. (2/?)
Fascism has been, again historically speaking, little else than a instrument of big business to co-opt petty bourgeois discontent through consensus and smash by coercion any working class resistance to the ruling class. (3/?)
It is a safety valve for capitalism, venting the masses' rightful anger away from the ruling class and bourgeois democracy, and directing it towards fabricated enemies (Jews, Muslims, Communists, etc). It simultaneously smashes completely any independent working class org. (4/?)
So, no wonder that antifascism is perceived to be working class and left-wing. It is only natural that it is so. Only the organized working class can present serious resistance to fascism. (5/?)
Let's quit daydreaming about an "antifascist" @kokoomus and focus on building a united front of the major working class organizations, from socdems to anarchists, under the common objective of defeating the far right, each org keeping its programmatical independence (6/6)
