Rejections are faced by all of us. It’s part of academic life. It’s ok to feel low (as a first reaction) bse one works hard (from problem definition to communicating manuscript) & invests a lot of time (even get reviews).

Most importantly remember that your paper is rejected. Not you. Don’t take it personally. Think objectively. Read comments with open mind & as constructive criticism. Discuss with coauthors/mentors/peers.

Deliberate & come up with an action plan to revise. If you disagree with reviewers & editor put forward your arguments in the rebuttal. Most reviews help to improve manuscript.

On a lighter note, based on my personal experience, sometimes rejection helps. My first paper, submitted for a special issue of an Indian Journal was rejected. Today I thank them bse it got published in the Journal of Molecular Biology!

Don’t loose your heart & stay committed to passion of discovery & keep publishing!
