Had 4 sessions of study group (in Japanese) over 2 weeks to read @alisonphipps’s “Me, Not You” this Aug, I learnt so much about recent trends of white feminism while a lot of tactics & rhetorical gears of anti-gender crusades sounded similar to the ones in the 2000sJPN backlash
In a way I had thought there was no need of global influence to get that recent cruelity of anti-trans feminism thing from U.K. or anywhere else because there had been there in JPN.

When many feminists absurdly started to call for LGBT inclusion in society in mid2010s they conviniently forgot the fact that major feminist narratives in 2000s literally affirmed binary gender norm in order to protect their feminism from the right wing govt-sponsored backlash.
Yet we’ve been in this anti-trans-feminist storm for the past 2 years & more recently, explicitly dismissive treatments against sex workers by the left. And a lot of anecdotal threats of “transgenderism” & “pimp lobby” are translated and introduced from English-speaking world.
Now, the creepiest thing happened during the 2 weeks was that the exact same conspiracy theories were being distributed by one of the major TERF accounts in the Japanese twittersphere, like “George Soros is funding transgenderism.” — So are we on the same playbook?
