The Sims 3 careers are the best in the series: A THREAD (im obsessed w talking about this game)
I aint even gonna bring up the open careers from Ambitions, but just know they are AMAZING. I want to focus on rabbithole careers.
So lets start with Journalism. Not only can your sim conduct interviews with sims around town, they can then write a report on them either favorably or unfavorably. They can also review movies, and dig through ppls trash to report on THEM.
Police officers unlock a hidden trait that allows them to fight burglars even if they are not brave. They can even pass this hidden trait onto their children. They also get a special police cruiser as an added bonus. The law enforcement career even has two branches to follow!
if you choose to become an international super spy in law enforcement you unlock the ability to RAID the criminal warehouse. If you choose forensics you unlock the ability to run forensic analyses on the computer! You can also rummage through cans and report on sims like journ.
Next lets talk business career. Not only do you unlock a limousine at later levels, you also unlock the special ability to hold meetings at various venues.
The medical career is unique because your sim can be put on call, and forced to come into work outside of regular hours. Later levels will unlock the ability to determine the gender of pregnant sims babies. They also get special medical journals to research with.
If you are in the culinary career, you may occasionally bring home free food. Getting promoted enough will also snag you discounts at the restaurant and free appliances!
In the criminal career, your sim can not be robbed by burglars. By becoming a thief you gain the ability to sneak, and by reaching the top of the evil branch you get an evil aura that will upset sims or even scare them if they are cowards.
Did you know the Film career is partially active? Different tasks like getting the crew coffee, promoting movies, and shooting b roll footage out in the world will be required throughout the work day! You can even write movie scripts on the computer!
Political career sims will throw fundraising parties, mooch for donations and even have the option to embezzle funds. Sims who reach the final career level will be granted an aura of leadership.
Sims in the sports career will have to prepare for games in order to succeed. Your performance directly relies on a good game winning record. Other sims in the career who are actively being played will also help or hurt the scores.
Even part time careers have some perks! Sims will get discounts if they work at the bookstore or grocery store, and if you work at the mausoleum you have a chance to build a grim reaper snowman.
Now we dont even need to talk about the sheer amount of open or semi open careers: Film, Medicine, Firefighter, Lifeguard, Daycare, Ghost Hunter, Stylist, Detective, Architectural Designer, Singer, Acrobat, Magician... we had OPTIONS hunny
Add onto that the other non career ways to make money, like racing your horse, collecting things, selling at the consigment store, running a bakery or restaurant, buying literally ANY venue you want and so on. Hobbies paid off in this game.
