I’m assuming the media’s new found interest in T-cells is directly related to Scott Atlas, and his much needed (all be it simplified) public update on the science of COVID immunity. Please tell me we’re not going to politicize the immune system! https://apple.news/A3kRwphuuTRaIZlzBu3Ag-A
T-cells may not prevent infection or prevent COVID transmission but if they contribute to clearing the virus & milder symptoms this is a good thing! While COVID may still transmit it would hopefully become less of a problem the more the population can fight it with mild symptoms.
It’s also a reasonable hypothesis that individuals with milder symptoms could be less transmissive. If this turns out to be the case, having larger numbers of asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic people could reduce the rate of transmission so COVID outbreaks are more manageable.
T-cells may not fully stop COVID transmission outright but if they help to reduce severity and put the breaks on transmission rate - they would in effect help to flatten the curve - a term we are all familiar with :)
At the very least we have moved on from the bizzaro notion there can be no immunity to COVID. In the new coo coo world we now live in I’ll take it as a win :)
