All jivas who are constantly moving through cycle of life & death have to pay back five dharmic debts. These debts are,

1) Deva Ṛṇa - We depend on devas for survival. We depend on Surya deva for sunlight, Devaraj Indra for Rain, Vayu for wind. We're indebted to them.
2) Rsi Ṛṇa :- Sages left society and spent years in wild doing tapas. They wrote down scriptures for the welfare of human race with the help of wisdom they acquired. We can benefit greatly if we follow their instructions. We're indebted to them.
3) Ptri-Matri Ṛṇa :- Our physical body is the creation of father's veerya & mother's blood(Bijay Krishna Goswami). Without their kripa one can't achieve anything in life. We're indebted to them. Gopinath Kaviraj mentioned one Jivanmukta mahatma who failed to move to the next...
stage because he failed to pay matri-Ṛṇa.

4) Nri Ṛṇa :- In Samsara we receive help from our family, relatives, friends in the time of our need, whenever we're in danger etc. That's another kind of debt. Debt to community.
5) Bhuta Ṛṇa :- We also depend on natural beings to sustain ourselves. Animals, birds, insects etc. For e.g Cow, elephant, dog, horse etc.

So you see we owe debts to nature's forces, nature's beings, ancestors, society, to those that have given us manuals to work.
You won't get out of cycle of life & death unless you pay back whatever you hv taken from universe. This is why Manu maharaj has told us to perform Pancha Yajna.

1) Perform Yajna to pay back our debt to devas.

2) sAstra-adhyana to payback our debt to sages.
3) Marriage & giving birth to progeny is the only way to pay back our debt to ancestors.

4) Perform atithi-seva to pay back your debt to society.

5) Give food to animals to pay back your debt nature's beings.
