What policy is number one behind the hypercompetitive job market and stagnant wages? Immigration policy. Slice it anyway you like it's what it'll always comes back to - artificial expansion of the domestic labor pool. Union busting becomes easy when there are infinity scabs.
On top of that, the imported population still has access to the few social services that exist to help Americans in poverty, stretching the resources available to everyone as thinly as possible, and destroying their effectiveness and availability.
Chinese one child policy and strict border controls actually helped raise Chinese incomes for future generations by depressing the labor pool and creating a higher demand for workers, necessitating increase in concern for their welfare and incomes due to their scarcity.
Yet we think we can't survive without immigrant labor. Everything that is available to Chinese and other nations to make themselves powerful - verboted in the USA.
