I've been neck-deep in a QAnon vid these past few days, so I've not taken much to Twitter regarding the friendlyjordies/AUWU thing. But here it is, fwiw:

You can have a little Twitter war with members of a union.
You can raise concerns about how that union is run. Go on. BUT.
To can the entire concept of unemployed worker's unions in the process of your Twitter war is to reject a lot of very real Australian union history. Unemployed workers organising is a very real part of that.

It displays a pretty dismal misunderstanding about our unionism.
For example (unrelated as I don't know much about the AUWU, but allow me this insofar as they're both unions)- I might have concerns about Setka, yeah? In raising them I can in turn call out CFMMEU internal union politics.

But do I get to mock the entire concept of trade unions?
Nah! I'm a unionist. I wouldn't dare do that. I'd be jettisoning my politics win some Twitter argument. My politics are more important than Twitter wars.

Anyway, here's some real union history from @AsFarce who's one of my favourites to follow. https://twitter.com/AsFarce/status/1295561007356510210?s=20
